Cascade Kiteboarding caters to those looking for a personalized and private kiteboarding instruction experience. Cascade Kiteboarding is the only school that assists ALL water lessons with a lesson-specific waverunner. It is always included in a water lesson. Cascade Kiteboarding is the only school in the Gorge to use 2-Way Bluetooth instruction helmets, which greatly increase the learning curve. This coaching system cuts out communication barriers such as wind, waves, and distance which typically inhibit clear communication. These helmets allow our instructors to give critical instant feedback to the student as soon before, during, and immediately after their actions with the kite and board. You can't achieve that when you're yelling at your student from the shore. We teach our water lessons almost 2 miles upwind from all other Hood River kite schools, in steadier conditions, with tons of room, and no other lesson traffic! Cascade Kiteboarding was voted "Best in the Gorge" three years in a row. We now run a second location in La Ventana, Baja Surf Mexico in the winter from November to April.

This was my second set of lessons with the Cascade team and I'll definitely be back. My instructor, Luke Combs, is a clear, calm communicator and seemed to know just how to explain things in a way that clicked for me. I advanced much more quickly than expected, had loads of fun and felt totally in control and safe throughout. The Columbia River at Hood River is the perfect venue. I'll be back!

Jeffro is an excellent teacher/examiner, and has a very comprehensive and fair methodology of teaching the course. Jeffro is an amazing communicator, he relays Information in a very positive and enthusiastic manner, ensuring that his students absorb and retain each key point of each topic. My IKO experience with Jeffro was amazing, and I am hoping to take more advanced training from him in the future.

I was very happy with the quality of the teaching and environment, and was able to both enjoy the time on the water and also gain substantial knowledge and confidence in moving forward as an independent rider. I also think the bluetooth helmet headsets were very useful, as my instructor was able to communicate observations and instructions with me easily and even in real time.

Really enjoyed my lessons at Cascade Kiteboarding. The instructors are great, the equipment is in great condition, and the instruction location (just upwind of Wells Island) makes learning a lot easier. Cascade Kiteboarding uses jetskis to take you to a sandbar with knee deep water; the instructors have radio helmets and give you feedback in real-time on the water.

Well thought out and informative program. I didn’t expect my personal riding skills would improve as they have. I also feel I’m somewhat of an unofficial meteorologist now! I find myself constantly observing the clouds and weather patterns and try to forecast what the weather will produce. I’m looking forward to continuing my certification through instructor level 2 and 3 once I start putting my level 1 to use! Stoked!!
