I knew what to expect in the classroom because the exams prepared us for the all the material. The real value of the assistant course was learning on the beach with our trainer, Sail. I picked up some great ideas from this course and the highlight was learning the boat rescue. I learned a lot and will be a safer instructor, highly recommend this course.

I just completed my IKO Instructor Training Course/ assistant course, and it was one of the best learning experiences I’ve ever had. The course was hosted by a highly professional and well-organized kite school that truly set the standard for excellence. From day one, everything ran smoothly, and the focus on safety, structure, and clear communication was evident throughout. Our examiner, Bart Miller, and assistant trainer, Sail Schechter, were outstanding. Both brought an incredible depth of knowledge and experience, and they created a supportive, challenging, and inspiring learning environment. Their attention to detail, constructive feedback, and passion for teaching made all the difference. They not only taught us how to instruct safely and effectively but also demonstrated exactly what great instruction looks like in action. I walked away from this course with a much stronger understanding of how to teach kiteboarding the right way—safely, confidently, and professionally. I feel well-prepared and truly excited to start sharing this amazing sport with others.

I fully enjoyed learning all aspects of the ITC program. Sail our instructor taught the class in a relaxed and informative manner that made it easy for me to learn and understand. I recommend taking the ITC program .

The ATC teacher Sail Schechter, was very professional and knowledgeable. He was able to relate to all age groups in the course, He also made the course fun when we the attendants got tired. Over all I felt my safety skills were heightened and my riding skill will improve for sure!

Sail was a wonderful instructor who truly has a passion for kiteboarding. He was very calm and insightful throughout the entire lesson. This wasn't my first instructor, but he is one of the best I've had. After this lesson I felt much more confident with my kite :) Sail is very knowledgable about kiting and made my lesson worth my time and money! I would recommend Sail for anyone trying to learn kiteboarding- he is dependable and really connects with his students!

Sail was an amazing instructor! I had taken a few lessons before and left feeling more confused when I started. After I started learning from Sail, my whole experience flip-flopped. I was riding up wind within a couple lessons, and felt safe and secure with my kite gear. He taught me how to be safe out on the water and to read the wind. The best thing about learning from him was his totally calm-mindedness and his patients. He never talked down to me, or made me feel out of my league. He always went that extra mile. Within a couple sessions by my self, I was jumping and transitioning with no problem at all.

I took three weeks of lessons from Kite The Gorge in Hood River, OR on the Columbia River and was blown away by the professionalism of their staff. My instructor Sail stuck with me through all of my lessons and was the huge help when it came to learning the in's and outs of this sport. He was patient and remained calm, he never got annoyed with me even when I was having a hard time with something. The school used brand new Slingshot kites and boards which made me feel safe knowing that their gear was top of the line. I would recommend Kite The Gorge to any of my friends or family and ask for Sail he is the best instructor there!
