recently completed the IKO Assistant Training Course (ATC), and it was an incredibly valuable experience that far exceeded my expectations. The course offered a well-structured blend of theory and practical sessions that gave me a strong foundation in kiteboarding instruction and safety. Our trainer was knowledgeable, patient, and highly professional. They created a positive learning environment and encouraged open communication, which helped build both confidence and competence. The hands-on practice was especially beneficial — from learning proper equipment setup and maintenance to understanding risk assessments and student management. What stood out most was the emphasis on safety, teaching techniques, and the IKO teaching methodology. By the end of the course, I felt well-prepared to assist in kiteboarding lessons and support both students and instructors effectively.

What truly sets the ITC apart is its combination of technical depth and practical teaching methodology. The course went far beyond just riding skills—it taught me how to become an effective communicator, manage students of all levels, and prioritize safety in every situation. Der IKO Instructor Kurs (ITC) war für mich eine herausragende und sehr lehrreiche Erfahrung. Besonders hervorheben möchte ich meinen Examiner Hui, der den Kurs mit viel Geduld, Kompetenz und enormer Fachkenntnis geleitet hat. Hui verstand es, auch komplexe Inhalte klar, strukturiert und praxisnah zu vermitteln. Auf alle Fragen ging er ausführlich ein und sorgte mit seiner ruhigen und freundlichen Art dafür, dass man sich jederzeit gut aufgehoben fühlte. Seine professionelle und dennoch lockere Unterrichtsweise hat maßgeblich dazu beigetragen, dass ich während des Kurses sehr viel lernen konnte – sowohl im Hinblick auf das Unterrichten von Schülern als auch für meine eigene persönliche Weiterentwicklung. Die Station Coconutskite war insgesamt super. Das Team war jederzeit hilfsbereit, die Organisation lief reibungslos und die Atmosphäre war sehr angenehm. Das Kite-Material war OK, auch wenn es in manchen Bereichen etwas moderner oder hochwertiger hätte sein können. Besonders positiv war das hervorragende Essen vor Ort. Zusätzlich erhält man als Kursteilnehmer für die gesamte Woche 15% Rabatt auf sämtliche Leistungen der Station, was den Aufenthalt noch angenehmer gestaltet hat. Insgesamt blicke ich sehr zufrieden auf diese Woche zurück und kann den Kurs uneingeschränkt empfehlen.

Had an awesome week and learned a lot. Hui is a great instructor and has a great amount of knowledge which he can teach in a way that makes it very easy to understand. Can’t wait to get out there and spread the stoke!

Hui was really an amazing instructor, very knowledgable and a very good ambassador for IKO and for kiting. I learnt alot from him and enjoyed his teaching style. He ran a tight course and made sure everyone really grasped all concepts.

I am an older guy - 44 years young and been a PADI dive instructor for 20 years, also a surf instructor. I also taught kiteboarding with my own small school back in 2008 in Mozambique and South Africa in 2010-2013, so I have been around the block in terms of courses and also been in love with kiteboarding and sharing the stoke for a long time. What Hui our course director and examiner brought o us during this course was above my expectations. Hui's knowledge for all the subject matters was absolutely excellent, I learnt a great deal, Also Hui's passion for the sport and people was one of the best I have ever seen. He really is a great ambassador for IKO and also for kiting. Hui even had the heart to help a family with 2 small kids who were clearly struggling with their father trying to teach them- this was at 5:30PM after a full day of teaching when we were wrapping up for the day . Hui proceeded tp do more than 2 hours free teaching with them just to help them out . amazing.... also a big thing for me I compared the IKO course to my diving courses- as you may know PADI is the diving leader for training and IKO in a way is similar so I can really appreciate the way the course outline has ben refined so that instructors have a step by step approach with 1 skill leading onto the next in each phase- Discovery, Intermediate etc Nice to be part of an organization so proffesional and helping build the future of safe kiting:.)

Learning with Hugues Scheers was such a bonus , he's always positive and encouraging. His knowledge in engineering allows him to explain the technical theory parts with ease and kept it understandable. I felt super safe riding with him and during the exercices on the beach. Basically he knows how to pass on the passion of kiteboarding.

This is only my second lesson for kite surfing and I feel like I've made incredible progess! I feel a great deal more confident on the water and any nervousness on my side was alleviated by the calm reassurances of the instructor. Any concerns or fears that may have cropped up were dealt with in a confident, compassionate manner. I'm really excited to continue my learning until I feel confident enough to kite surf on my own! The lessons were planned out in such a personalised way that if I had trouble understanding a concept or if I wanted to review something, my instructor was happy to repeat or explain differently until I fully understood. Really happy I decided to try kite surfing!! This has brought a lot of joy to my life and made me excited to push myself even further! Thank you to everyone involved.
