SA Kitesurf Adventures (Florida)

SAK (Instructor Dale McCann) was able to get myself and my son so much further along than we expected when started. Before the end of the first five hours (same day) we were reliably kiting upwind and making transition turns! All the while receiving personal, specific and appropriate instruction for the both us, so we could focus and progress. The next day's session had my son practicing riding toe side, and popping to switch stance, SAK is flexible and accommodating. A tremendous couple of days!

Dale provided me with clear, concise instruction to help me fill in the gaps in my knowledge and experience. Dale's quiet confidence in his abilities as a kiter and instructor helped boost my confidence and speed the learning process. Highly recommended.

Ok, so we are on the other side of 50 and learning to kite board. That means we have certain criteria — saftey, first, kite control and minimizing injuries. We chose SAKite because it is IKO certified. Dale, the owner, has years of experience as an instructor. He took his time to insure we knew kite set up and safety protocol. We honed our kite flying skills in light wind and stronger winds. He was a patient encouraging coach and both of us succeeded in getting up on the board and riding in both directions. We still have more to learn and master in our kiteboarding adventures. We plan to take more lessons with SAKites. Also, St. Pete, Florida is a beautiful location! We enjoyed our time on and off the water. SAKites doesn’t have a shop in St. Pete. Dale meets you on site, so that is why I gave a 1 Star to “Facility.”

SA Kitesurf Adventures (SAK) is run by Dale McCann from South Africa (SA). In addition to providing kiteboarding instruction in the St. Petersburg/Tampa Bay area of Florida from October-May, Dale also provides kiteboarding instruction in The Columbia River Gorge, Lyle, Washington from June-Sept. Dale is a patient instructor who pays attention to details. His friendly attitude and calm demeanor work to help focus his students on the task at hand - kiteboarding. He is open to all types kiteboarding questions, so don't miss the opportunity to solve any kiteboarding problems you might have while learning to kiteboard with him. Becoming proficient in a new sport requires practice, but in the case of kiteboarding, it also requires adequate wind. SAK rescheduled my lessons each day in order for me to ride in the best winds available. I was also provided information about how to ride safely in my new riding environment. Every riding location is different; the more a rider knows about the potential hazards in that environment, the better. All-in-all, I don't think you can go wrong with SAK, so prepare yourself for some fun and excitement, and go kiteboarding.

I had a few basics before being trained, and Dale was able to "light up" and bring everything together and get me water-starting and riding up-wind quickly. I highly recommend him!!
